Pearlridge Center is a giant shopping mall in Aiea.
Consisting of two sections, Mauka and Waikai, it is a premier shopping spot in Hawaii that is so large you can travel between each section by monorail!
Because it is located in a commuter town where many locals live, it also features the characteristic that most of the customers are Hawaii residents.
While products and sizes popular with international tourists often sell out quite quickly in Waikiki or Ala Moana Center, Pearlridge Center frequently still has those popular sizes in stock!
It is a shopping mall where you can fully feel an authentic American atmosphere, so it might be a good idea to go and enjoy a different vibe from the typical tourist spots!
Recommended Shops at Pearlridge Center

Although not on the same scale as Ala Moana Center, many shops also operate at Pearlridge Center.
You could say it is like Ala Moana Center without the luxury brands. Haha.
An even more wonderful point is that all the shops are indoors, so there is absolutely no problem even on rainy days!
Also, despite not being overly crowded, facilities like food courts and benches are fully equipped.
Being able to shop while easily taking breaks feels like a very big advantage.
Various stores have opened within the facility, including popular affordable shops like Forever 21 and Hollister, the department store Macy’s, and bargain hunting stores like T.J. Maxx and Ross Dress for Less.
A notable feature is that the Mauka side has department stores and popular apparel, while the Waikai side has a movie theater and a large food court.
Hawaii’s Traditional Monorail

Families can also keep their children in a good mood by riding the monorail (Skycab) a few times. Haha.
Adults need 1 dollar for a one-way trip, but children are free, making it a fun little activity!
Actually, until the Skyline railway opened, it was the only monorail in Hawaii, and it is also a nostalgic ride full of memories that locals have grown up with since childhood.
While riding, you can also see Hawaii’s largest historic watercress farm, which has been in operation since 1928, situated between the buildings!
The travel distance is about a 5 to 10-minute walk, so please choose whichever you prefer when deciding whether to ride or not.
