There are several theories as to why this place came to be called Yokohama Bay.

While there are various theories, the most widely accepted one is that this was the beach where Japanese immigrants, who came to Hawaii in the early 1900s, would gaze out at the ocean, thinking of their homeland, Japan.
Unlike today, it wasn’t an era where one could easily travel between Japan and Hawaii, so this place may hold the deep sentiments of those early pioneers.
