The process differs depending on whether you’re getting a poke bowl or buying poke by weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ordering a Poke Bowl<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When ordering a poke bowl, you first choose your “size.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are two sizes, Mini and Regular, with the Regular being about 1.5 times the volume of the Mini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mini might be enough for those with a smaller appetite, but the Regular isn’t an overwhelming amount either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, you choose your “base.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can choose from white rice, brown rice, green salad, or sushi rice (for an additional $1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the way, it’s also possible to get a half-and-half mix of brown rice and green salad!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sushi rice is mixed with spinach, a unique flavor that I think you can only find here in Hawaii\u266a<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And finally, you choose your desired “poke.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You typically choose one type, but for an extra $0.50, you can select two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When buying poke by weight, it’s very simple: just specify the type of poke you want and the weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the United States, weight is measured in pounds (lb), not grams (g).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One pound is about 453g, a half pound is 227g, and a quarter pound is 113g.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, you can just say, “Can I get a quarter pound of the [name of poke] poke?” and you’ll be all set!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to try various types of poke, buying by weight is a great way to share\u266a<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a poke shop, the menu is quite focused, with a total of eight varieties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second most popular is Spicy, a classic flavor you’ll find everywhere in Hawaii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Locals in Hawaii absolutely love this spicy flavor, so it’s a guaranteed bestseller at any shop. lol<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#3 Japan Deluxe & the Recommended Miso Ginger Tako<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Japan Deluxe is another fan favorite at Off the Hook, featuring a miso base with shiso and ginger\u2014a flavor that pairs perfectly with rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And personally, the Miso Ginger Tako is my top recommendation. lol<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sweet miso sauce is just absolutely incredible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Other Four Menu Items<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

All the other menu items are delicious too; there’s really nothing bad on the menu at Off the Hook Poke Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hawaiian Style is simply seasoned, with Hawaiian ogo (seaweed) and inamona (roasted kukui nut) that enhance the flavor of the ahi!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most classic Shoyu flavor is also made with the shop’s homemade sauce and pairs perfectly with the ahi\u266a<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kilauea Fire is a treat for spice lovers, made with chili miso, jalape\u00f1os, and chili peppers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the Wasabi flavor, popular among locals, has a nice balance of wasabi mayo and furikake, making it not overly spicy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also have a fantastic “Poke Sampler” that includes a little bit of all eight poke varieties, so be sure to give it a try if you’re interested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
