Tanioka’s Seafoods is a legendary ahi poke shop that everyone who lives in Hawaii knows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its establishment in 1978, it has consistently ranked in the top 3 in Hawaii’s popular food polls!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located in Waipahu, an area not frequently visited by tourists, it may not be well-known to many visitors as it’s often not featured in guidebooks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a very “Hawaiian” kind of shop, offering not only poke but also a variety of other items like fried foods, musubi, and traditional Hawaiian dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a place loved by locals for many years, you can be sure of its quality and value!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without a doubt, the most popular item at Tanioka’s Seafoods is the Spicy Ahi, where the spicy sauce and fresh ahi are a perfect match for rice!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shop focuses on flavor and quality ingredients rather than a vast menu, so their poke selection is primarily tuna (ahi) and octopus (tako), with a limited number of varieties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can buy poke by weight or have it made into a poke bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you order a small size, you can choose one type of poke for your bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this day, they were running low on Garlic Ahi, so even though it’s usually one choice, they kindly gave me two types as a bonus. How lucky!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the two-choice version, which costs 1.5 times the small size but gives you twice the volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It might seem a bit pricey compared to other poke bowls, but the taste is truly top-tier in Hawaii, so you won’t regret buying it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My personal favorite combination is Spicy Ahi & Miso Tako!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If that’s still not enough food for you, they also have a great selection of fried items like fried chicken and korokke (croquettes) to enjoy as side dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While they are famous for their poke, the “Hawaiian Plate,” which includes kalua pork, poi, and haupia (coconut pudding), is also very popular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
