Puu Ualakaa State Park is a scenic spot offering a panoramic view of South Oahu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a stunning lookout you’ll find by driving a bit further up Tantalus, a popular spot for its night views!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although you can’t enjoy the night view because the entrance gate closes at sunset, you can see everything from Diamond Head, Waikiki, and Ala Moana to the airport area, Pearl Harbor, and even the distant Ko Olina district on the west coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The view from Puu Ualakaa State Park spans over 270 degrees, making you want to take panoramic photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While everyone enjoys the scenery differently, I personally recommend visiting during sunset to watch the sun gradually go down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The area around the lookout is breathtaking everywhere you look, guaranteeing you’ll get some amazing photos!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s also a beautiful grassy area, making it a nice spot for a picnic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearby, there’s a challenging but lesser-known trail, and the area is also known as a filming location for the Elvis Presley movie “Blue Hawaii.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, be aware that car break-ins are relatively common here, so if you plan to stay for a long time, be sure to secure your valuables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Puu Ualakaa State Park, you can witness one of the most beautiful sunsets in Hawaii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The park stays open until sunset according to the season, so try to visit in the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sight of Diamond Head gradually changing from purple to a black silhouette, while the city lights begin to sparkle and the landscape shifts from orange to the bright lights of the night, is truly indescribable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For reference, sunset times in Hawaii are latest around 7:15 PM in June and July, and earliest around 5:50 PM in November and December. The park gates close shortly after the sun goes down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a surprisingly little-known spot for spectacular views and sunsets, so if you have the time, be sure to check it out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
