Alii Beach is a popular sea turtle spot located near Haleiwa Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The water is shallow, ranging from knee to waist deep for adults, so even those who cannot swim can go in and play in the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, because of its geographical location, it is less affected by waves, so you can often play in the water even during the winter season when the waves are large!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The adjacent spacious grassy park feels great and is perfect for a picnic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also famous for hosting the Haleiwa Challenger, a world surfing competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actually, this is a beach where sea turtles often come up on the sand more during the winter season when the waves are large!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is common for them to come up in the summer as well, but the probability is about half compared to winter, so you have a higher chance of seeing them at other beaches in the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In winter, you should have a very high chance of seeing both skilled surfers and sea turtles!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, some parts offshore at Alii Beach are very shallow, and during low tide, sea turtles cannot enter the bay, so there are days when you cannot see them at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even if they are not on the sand, if there are many turtles swimming around, the probability of them coming up is high!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On days when you cannot even see swimming turtles, I think it is better not to stick around and just move to another beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the way, there are no volunteers at Alii Beach, so it is possible to get as close to the sea turtles as you want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it is a rule in Hawaii to observe sea turtles from a distance of at least 3 meters (10 feet), not to touch them, and not to feed them, so please make sure to follow these manners when observing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
