Kaena Point Pillbox is a little-known hidden trail located at Kaena Point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a scenic hidden pillbox at the westernmost tip of Oahu!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because it is protected as an albatross sanctuary, there are no paved roads for about 5 kilometers each way, so you need to go on foot. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half each way just to reach the base of the pillbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, you can enjoy stunning views of the coast and mountains the whole way, so you can have a pleasant walk, except during the peak of summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a highly recommended spot for those who love the great nature of Hawaii!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, this is an area with one of the highest rates of car break-ins in Hawaii, so please be extremely careful with your valuables while walking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, since you will be walking continuously under the blazing sun, taking precautions against heatstroke is essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Views from Kaena Point Pillbox<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you walk along the entrance gate of the seabird sanctuary, you will find a path leading up to the pillbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The slope is steep, but you can actually climb it in about 20 minutes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is actually another pillbox, and if you climb further up for about 10 minutes, you will arrive at the second pillbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a bit hard, but the spectacular view from the second pillbox is highly recommended as it offers the best panoramic view of both the west coast and the North Shore of Oahu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the second one, it is practically about a 30-minute one-way walk from the gate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since Kaena Point itself juts out into the ocean, you can fully enjoy a stunning panoramic view of over 180 degrees with nothing blocking your sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering that it takes about 3 hours round trip by car between Waikiki and Kaena Point, about 3 hours round trip on foot, about 1 hour to hike to the pillbox, and about 1 hour for a break, it is truly a pillbox that takes a whole day to visit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
