The Haleiwa sign is a popular photo spot that has become a symbol of the North Shore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many people think it’s a tourist attraction because of its stylish look, but it’s actually just a regular sign guiding people to the entrance of Haleiwa, a town on the North Shore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While many people assume it’s located within the town, it’s actually along the Kamehameha Highway, which runs parallel to the town!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because people can’t seem to find it in the town center, we often get asked, “Where is it?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to take a picture with the sign, you’ll need to head just outside of town!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s in a spot that\u2019s easy to miss, so be sure to keep a close eye out for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There Are Two Haleiwa Signs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Haleiwa sign was created in 1996 by local artist Carole Beller to help people know about the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It became so popular shortly after it was installed that it was actually stolen at one point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Believing the original design was “too good” and thus led to the theft, Carole redesigned it with the slightly more humorous surfer theme to deter thieves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to that, the current design has remained untouched and is beloved by everyone as a symbol of the town!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are two versions of the sign located near the town’s entrances: the “boy” version as you approach from the Waikiki side, and the “girl” version as you approach from further up the North Shore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It makes for a fantastic photo, especially with the bright blue Hawaiian sky in the background!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
