Ko Hana Rum is Oahu’s only premium rum, made from Hawaiian-grown sugarcane.
The distillery is located in the peaceful Kunia area, a place once home to sugarcane fields and pineapple plantations, and still surrounded by expansive farmland today!
Manulele Distillers, the company that produces the rum, cultivates a total of 34 varieties of heirloom sugarcane, with 9 of them used for rum production.
In fact, rum made by fermenting and distilling only fresh sugarcane juice is very rare, accounting for just 2-3% of the world’s rum.
Furthermore, the entire process of making Ko Hana Rum, from harvesting the sugarcane to pressing it for juice, is done by hand.

The Ko Hana Rum distillery feels like a small tourist destination in itself.
With its vintage-inspired interior and displays, the shop has a wonderful atmosphere that doesn’t feel much like a typical distillery.
They sell a variety of products, including merchandise like T-shirts, caps, and glasses, as well as rum-infused chocolates and cakes, and honey that can only be purchased here!
All the rum bottles are sourced from a French perfume bottle manufacturer, giving them a stylish and elegant look that makes them perfect for souvenirs.
