At Hawaii Polo Club, you can enjoy a leisurely horseback ride along a secluded stretch of Hawaiian coastline.
Located in the rustic countryside of the North Shore, it offers a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.
It’s actually a historic polo club established in 1963, and the horses are all well-trained for polo, making them very smart and obedient.
Many tourist horseback riding experiences follow a set path where the horse practically moves on autopilot, but at Hawaii Polo Club, you have the freedom to guide your horse to go, stop, or turn as you please.
Walk-ins are welcome, the prices are reasonable, and you get to ride slowly while taking in stunning ocean views, making it a highly recommended spot!
The Horseback Riding Experience at Hawaii Polo Club

At Hawaii Polo Club, a dedicated guide accompanies you on your ride, so you can feel completely at ease.
They offer “Private Rides” where you can have a guide all to yourself, as well as more affordable “Sunshine Rides” (departing midday) and “Sunset Rides” (departing in the evening) for groups.
The club isn’t usually too crowded, so even the group tours often feel like a small, intimate experience.
This means you can often just show up on the day of and go for a ride without a prior booking!
Unlike places like Kualoa Ranch, which can be booked up more than a month in advance, you don’t have to worry.
The Trail Ride Course at Hawaii Polo Club

Upon arrival at the ranch, you’ll receive a 15-minute lesson on how to mount the horse and use the reins.
Right after that, you’ll set off on your ride.
The course is a nature-filled journey that takes you through a forest and along the coast.
It’s a leisurely stroll along the sandy beach, and while you have control of the reins, you’re not allowed to make the horse run.
The guides will also take photos of you on the beach, which make for a wonderful memento of your experience.
Some people even propose here! If you let them know in advance, they can help you arrange a surprise proposal.
If you’re thinking of proposing in Hawaii, why not consider adding this to your plan?
