Frankie’s Nursery is a popular farm renowned for its Honey Cream Pineapple, said to be the sweetest in the world.
It’s quietly tucked away on the outskirts of Waimanalo, at the foot of the Koolau Mountains, surrounded by lush, idyllic scenery!
This wonderful farm allows you to enjoy both a classic Hawaiian atmosphere and delicious, freshly picked fruits.♪
You’ll find many fruits you may have never seen before. While not all of them might be to your taste, it’s sure to be a great life experience! haha
Be sure to savor a variety of fruits while soaking in the nature of Hawaii.
A Guide to Frankie’s Nursery

Since Frankie’s Nursery is not accessible by public transportation like The Bus, is some distance from Waikiki, and is not a well-known spot, it’s a good idea to confirm the address beforehand.
Even when you arrive, there’s no sign. If you see the gate open like this, you just head on in!
Also, be aware that their business hours are not very long, and they are closed on many days.

As you follow the path into the farm, you’ll find a building with a small fruit stand right next to it.
Since the farm grows a variety of fruits, the stand sells many different kinds depending on the season.♪

The most popular fruit is the Honey Cream Pineapple, which became widely known after being featured on a popular Japanese TV show, making it a hot commodity that often sells out.
It used to be available at stores like Foodland and Whole Foods, but production has been decreasing over the years, and now it’s uncertain whether you can get one even if you visit the farm.

Therefore, it’s best to visit with the intention of enjoying delicious seasonal fruits rather than specifically aiming for the Honey Cream Pineapple.
There are many other recommended fruits, such as jackfruit, which has a smell similar to durian that some people dislike but is incredibly sweet and delicious around the seeds. You can also find exquisite Hawaiian mangoes, which are in season from around June to September, and the very rarely harvested mangosteen.♪
By the way, you can also have the fruits you purchase cut for you for $1 each.
The refrigerator also has pre-cut fruits for sale, which is an easier and recommended option!
Can You Bring the Fruits Back as Souvenirs?

A common question we get is, “Can I bring fruits like the Honey Cream Pineapple back home with me?”
The short answer is yes, you can bring fruits back to your country, though it requires a bit of effort!
Previously, no special procedures were needed, but now you must obtain an inspection certificate from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Plant Protection and Quarantine office at Honolulu Airport.
The process involves going to the airport a little early on your departure day, filling out necessary information like your name and address at the quarantine office, specifying how you will transport the fruit, and having an official document issued (which takes about 30 minutes).
The fee is about $60 and can only be paid by credit card.
When you arrive back in your country, you’ll just need to present the pineapple along with the documents you received at the quarantine office!
It might seem a bit troublesome, but think of it as part of your travel memories and give it a try.
